Wuhan Wujiashan Taiwanese Businessman Investment Zone, Central China’s first provincial development zone, was set up in 1992. A batch of Taiwanese-invested leading enterprises including Formosa Plastic Group and Far Eastern Group came thick and fast, following Uni-president Enterprises Corp. Up to now, 56 Taiwanese-invested enterprises including Uni-president Enterprises Corp, Formosa Plastic Group, Far Eastern Group, T.JOIN (BVI) and Shihlin Electric swarm here, which makes the zone Central China’s largest Taiwanese capital compact distract.
At present, Wujiashan Taiwanese Businessman Investment Zone, covering 22 square kilometers, has developed into 4 “special economic zones” including the cross-strait technology industry park, electromechanical industry park, international logistics park and food-processing park, respectively giving priority to hatching, configuration and introduction of newly hi-tech industries, electromechanical industry and IT industry, logistics bond storage and port construction as well as food-processing industry. In 2007, GDP per capita in the district stood at USD5000, topping the list in Hubei. |
